Imago Pietatis Flanked by the Mourning Virgin and Saint John the Evangelist Predella by Sano di Pietro (1406-1481)
Graciously donated by Dr. Paolo Fresco.
"Ever since my very first visits to Florence, nearly sixty years ago, I have regarded the Uffizi Gallery as the summa of Italian Renaissance and hence of our own culture. That is why I felt both proud and grateful when the most authoritative representatives of this illustrious museum embraced the idea of acquiring this predella panel by Sano di Pietro. My wife Marlene and I are therefore happy and proud to donate it to the Uffizi to be on display side by side with the masterpieces of the greatest artists of the Italian Quattrocento, complementing a worldwide unique collection in which our Country must take the greatest pride."
